+++ 5:00 p.m. - Social Distancing with Camper-Tour through Namiba +++

Thanks to low infection rates, Namibia is once again bookable and accessible for FTI guests: "Due to its vastness, the country is predestined for social distancing, especially for travelers who want to enjoy nature undisturbed," explains Ulrike Schäfer, Group Head of Destination Africa at FTI. In hotels, lodges and guest houses, great importance is also attached to comprehensive hygiene concepts, which are necessary to be able to accommodate holidaymakers. Because the country with 300 sun days can be explored very well on own fist, the Africa expert recommends the 13-days route "Namibia per Camper erkunden". "The guests receive thereby first a detailed introduction over their vehicle and the equipment, before they break off toward Kalahari", explain Schäfer. Both spectacular natural landscapes such as the Namib Desert and the 300-meter-high dunes of Sossusvlei as well as a fascinating animal world can be marveled at during the tour. The video gives some inspiration for Namibia. FTI Productmanagement Africa (21.10.2020)

+++ 6:00 p.m. - Safe winter holidays in Turkey - without quarantine +++

The demand for holidays on the Turkish Riviera is stable for autumn and winter. The FTI-resort Aquaworld Belek by MP Hotels will therefore remain open all year round for the first time. Another good nows for German travellers: the current regulation for those returning from the touristic regions on the Turkish Riviera and Aegean will continue to apply also  after 8 November 2020. Ayhan Hicabi, Group Head of Destination Turkey at FTI, explains: "Within 48 hours before the return flight, guests only have to undergo a PCR test. Back in Germany, they do not have to go into quarantine or need any further tests. The results of the PCR tests of the last two months also prove that the hygiene concepts in the Turkish holiday regions work well: Out of our 60,000 guests in the first two months after the travel warning was lifted on 4 August, 202 were tested Corona positive, which corresponds to a rate of 0.3 percent". After the season extension for Crete, FTI is extending the summer to other European islands. Hotels on Rhodes, Sicily, Malta and Madeira, for example, have negotiated extended opening hours until mid-December, and attractive additional services have been integrated into the package deal. "Many of our guests, who had reacted to various travel warnings with a wait-and-see booking, now want to make up for the 'unusual' summer in the sun", explains FTI Group Managing Director Ralph Schiller and continues: "We are responding to this wish by extending the season by offering many attractive add-ons in addition to good prices for selected accommodation". The included additional services include a free double room upgrade in a hotel in Madeira, discounts for a taverna in Crete or a free rental car in a LABRANDA in Rhodes from a stay of five days. +++ 3:00 p.m. - Daily non-stop flights into the sun: Mild climate on Malta even in winter +++

There is no way around Malta in the vacation winter of 2020/21. On the one hand, Europe's southernmost archipelago in the West Mediterranean Sea impresses with mild, warm daytime temperatures between 16 and 20 degrees Celsius from November to March. On the other hand, Malta is one of the few vacation destinations that can be visited safely and without quarantine or testing requirements. Luca Picone Chiodo, Group Head of Destination Malta at FTI, explains: "While many short- and medium-haul countries are either about to enter the winter break or have received a travel warning, Malta is well prepared for a regular, lively winter season. There are no compulsory tests for entry and no quarantine has to be planned for when returning home. With a comprehensive range of flights, Malta is also very easy to reach. As the market leader, we at FTI have an extremely wide choice of hotels and there is a very varied range of options for planning your vacation locally". Five German cities are only a stone's throw away from the archipelago thanks to non-stop flights. A close partner of the organizer is Air Malta, whose flight schedule for the winter season has been extended in such a way that durations of stay can be planned flexibly. For the first time, the airline is increasing departures from Berlin to four times a week and will also cover Hamburg with two flights a week from 28 October 2020. +++ 6:00 p.m. - Finally again: Island hopping in the Seychelles

From 16 October 2020, FTI guests can spend their vacations in the Seychelles again. The island paradise in the Indian Ocean is one of the few long-haul destinations that can currently be visited at short notice. Paul Heimo, Group Head of Destination Indian Ocean at FTI, explains: "The lifting of the travel warning for the Seychelles came at the right time, because the climatic conditions there are now ideal for catching up on the summer vacations that may have been lost in the distance. More than half of the hotels in our portfolio have opened for visitors in compliance with comprehensive hygiene and distance regulations. Island-hopping tours are also possible again". Travel to the Seychelles, for example, is possible with Emirates and a transfer in Dubai. More information here. FTI Touristik (12.10.20)

From 31 October 2020, FTI guests can fly to the beach destination with airline partner Condor three times a week from Düsseldorf and Frankfurt. Guests can expect up to 30 degrees and the typical relaxed Cuban lifestyle". As a first step, guests can choose from twelve hotels of well-known chains such as Iberostar, ROC or Sol for the all-incluspackages. FTI Productmanagement Caribbean (9.10.2020)

+++ 4:30 p.m. - Forest bathing instead of sunbathing: Tips for a relaxing time out under trees +++

In Japan, forest bathing has been a trend for years, as scientific studies have shown that a conscious stay in the forest stimulates body and soul thanks to the fresh air and soothing soundscape. "If you want to try this special bathing experience yourself, there is plenty of choice in Germany with its many large forest areas," says Martin Katz, FTI expert for self drive segment. The only requirement for a successful descent is sufficient time. That is why he advises a short holiday, for example in the Spreewald forest or at Bostalsee lake in the Saar-Hunsrück nature park in Saarland. Especially now in autumn, when the leaves are changing colour, the regions are also visually stunning. FTI Product Management Self Drive (8.10.2020)

+++ 2:00 p.m. - Expert tips for South Tyrol in autumn +++

The typical colours of the leaves slowly announce the arrival of autumn. In South Tyrol, this natural spectacle is particularly beautiful on sunny days. "For the coming weeks, South Tyrol is a wonderful place to fully enjoy autumn, to be active in the fresh air and to reward yourself with a glass of wine afterwards", recommends Luca Picone Chiodo, Italy expert at FTI. "And it doesn't always have to be Merano or Lake Garda. Those who want to relax in nature and away from the hustle and bustle can, for example, take a mountain bike tour around Lake Caldaro in the mountains south of Bolzano. It is on average only four meters deep, therefore it stays warm for a particularly long time and, if you like, in October it still offers pleasant refreshment at a water temperature of 18 to 20 degrees. Not far away and also highly recommended are the Montiggler Lakes, where it is possible to stroll along the reed belt between the waters on wooden footbridges, for example. Apart from that, of course, the popular Törggele time is always worth a trip.” More information about this for example here. FTI Productmanagement Italy (6.10.2020)

+++ 11:00 a.m. - FTI GROUP guests have received almost 300 million euros +++

The Corona Year is in many ways an extreme challenge for the industry. Many were not able to realize their vacation as planned. Since the travel restrictions by the German Foreign Office have been lifted in June 2020 for many European countries, the opportunities for time off abroad have improved, but a normalization of the travel world is still a long way off. With the start of the autumn vacations we are taking the opportunity to take stock: "The situation of the last few weeks and months with different travel warnings and entry conditions, the list of risk areas, quarantine rules and mandatory tests, plus the short-term flight cancellations and hotel closures has been consuming. All this means an enormous amount of work behind the scenes," explains FTI Group Managing Director Ralph Schiller. "We check every single booking with its individual arrival, the current travel regulations as well as the situation on site for its feasibility and, where necessary, we look for alternatives which we coordinate with the respective customers. Many guests are naturally unsure, have questions, rebook. Our employees process thousands of mails daily, in our service centers we make non-stop phone calls. We are also working at full speed on the refunds - to date we have already refunded almost 300 million euros. Although this volume means longer waiting times in processing, we are doing everything we can to offer the best possible customer service under these circumstances. FTI GROUP (5.10.2020)

11:00 a.m. - Listen to the latest FTI podcast episodes +++

Entertaining and up-to-date information is provided three times a week by our colleague Sainey Sawaneh in the new FTI podcast "Heute couch, morgen Strand." ("Today couch, tomorrow beach"). Recently our expert for car travel countries, Martin Katz, joind her to talk about holidays in Germany and neighbouring countries. All episodes are available free of charge on the usual podcast platforms and also via the podigee player (in German). FTI Tourisik (4.10.2020)

+++ 12:15 p.m. - FTI winter flight programme from December 2020 +++

Despite dynamic developments and some uncertainty, FTI is now giving all guests who long for holidays a perspective and is presenting its flight programme for the winter season 2020/21. The focus destinations are the Canary Islands, Egypt, Morocco, Dubai and Salalah in South Oman, which are served by airline partner Holiday Europe.  To Turkey, FTI guests traditionally travel mainly with SunXpress. Other holiday airlines are also on offer. "We are always aware of our responsibility for the safety and health of our guests and follow the assessments of the German Foreign Office closely", explains FTI Group Managing Director Ralph Schiller. FTI GROUP (3.10.2020)

+++ 3:15 p.m. - Can’t get any better +++

With the new campaign of the FTI GROUP, guests booking until 31 October 2020 receive a best price guarantee as well as a cancellation option until 14 days before the start of the trip with a money-back guarantee. FTI Group Managing Director Ralph Schiller explains: "Since Corona, the needs of holidaymakers have changed. With our new campaign, we are therefore making the booking decision for our guests particularly easy: with high early booking discounts, a best price guarantee, free cancellation until shortly before the start of the trip and a guaranteed refund of costs in the event of cancellation within two weeks, there are no longer any hurdles that set limits to holiday dreams even in such turbulent times as these". +++ 3:00 p.m. - In German cities around the world +++

Anyone planning a short trip around the world in the autumn months has the best chances in Germany - despite Corona. Many German cities are often compared with international metropolises because of their similar characteristics, but they also have much more to offer. FTI city travel expert Juliane Berauer explains: "Travelling to world metropolises such as New York, Tokyo or Paris is almost impossible at present because of Corona. That is why we advise guests to visit their German counterparts. A selfie in front of the silhouette of 'Mainhattan' or on Brühl's Terrace in 'Florence on the Elbe' can create a wow-effect among social media fans and show the international flair of German cities. FTI Product Management City Breaks (1.10.2020)

+++ 4:00 p.m. - Trend to cycle is also reflected in vacation plans +++

Bicycle tours are experiencing a revival in the Corona year 2020. Family excursions on a bike are more popular than they have been for a long time. "During the lockdown period, many have discovered or rediscovered their passion for cycling," says Richard Brodrecht, FTI's expert for package tours. He continues: "Many guests now want to continue to use this gentle form of leisure activity during their vacations - without taking a tour lasting several days. The late summer is in the best way suitable with mild temperatures in countries such as Slovenia, Croatia or also Greece, in order to experience your chosen destination in small stages and daily trips. In the FTI portfolio travellers find a large selection of hotels, which offer rental bikes - partly even e-bikes - to explore the region individually and at your own pace. Route suggestions around Lake Bled in Slovenia can be found here, for example. FTI Tourism (21.09.2020)

Many travelers are already awaiting the day when the USA will reopen its borders for tourism. The good news is that many states, regions and cities in the “land of opportunity” are already well equipped with health and hygiene standards to protect people against the spread of corona virus. The Californian city of San Diego for example has produced a video with the motto "be patient and kind" that shows the measures to ensure the safety of all hotel guests, including mask requirements, minimum distance rules and frequent disinfection of furniture, couches and surfaces. A relaxed stay in the Pacific metropolis, which benefits from mild weather until late autumn, a sandy beach over 60 miles long and Californian hospitality, is thus guaranteed. "With an average of nine hours of sunshine, daytime temperatures up to a maximum of 27 degrees Celsius and still around 23 degrees warm water, late summer is an optimal travel time for Corfu," says Halina Strzyzewska, who is responsible for Greece at tour operator FTI. For an extensive bathing day with a breath of romance, the Greece expert recommends the fine sandy Glyfada Beach on the west coast, which is bathed in golden light by the sun in the afternoon and evening. Strzyzewska also has a tip for guests who want to spend the night in a stylish ambience and enjoy culinary delights: the five-star KAIRABA Mythos Palace - a newly opened hotel on the southeast coast of Corfu. From the infinity pool the view of the turquoise-blue sea opens up to guests and the bright rooms also invite them to stay. FTI Product Management Greece & Cyprus (31.8.2020)

+++ 5:45 p.m. - Strong demand for romantic tourist highlights in Germany +++

Many Germans are currently rediscovering the beauties of their own country and feel transported back to the pioneering days of tourism: instead of flocking with thousands of international visitors through globally popular places like Heidelberg, Rothenburg ob der Tauber or Freiburg im Breisgau, leisurely strolling and shopping is once again possible. FTI's self-journey expert Martin Katz notes: "Since we currently have no guests from non-EU countries, such as Asia or the USA, it is very worthwhile to visit classic tourist highlights in this country". Popular for couples is a car holiday along the Romantic Road where  scenic landscapes and historical places can be discovered. Especially the medieval, world-famous little town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber with its excellently preserved fortress wall, picturesque alleys and colourful half-timbered houses invites them to stay a little longer. "Germany has developed from a short trip destination to the main holiday destination with stays of one to two weeks or longer. Classic holiday regions in particular, which have a rather nostalgic flair, are experiencing a rapid increase in the number of guests," says Katz happily. Hikes in the Lüneburg Heath and in the Moselle Valley also guarantee romantics a relaxing break from everyday life. FTI Product Management Self Drive (20.8.2020)

+++ 2:15 p.m. - Late summer on the Turkish Aegean +++

Now that the travel warning for the Aydin region has been lifted, holidaymakers can once again plan their holidays in Greater Izmir. Hicabi Ayhan, Group Head of Destination Turkey at FTI recommends the charming little town of Alaçati on the peninsula Çeşme for a break in this region and especially for a break in September or October. "Alaçati is a wonderful all-inclusive package: In the evening, guests can stick their toes in the sand in stylish beach bars to chilly sounds, while those looking for action will also get their money's worth in the windsurfing destination. You should also allow enough time to stroll through the small town with its cobblestone streets and picturesque stone houses. Especially in late summer, when it gets a little quieter, you can sit in the cafés and relax and should also take a look into the hidden backyards and gardens of the small boutique hotels", explains the Turkey expert. +++ 3:00 p.m. - Extending the summer with Cyprus +++

When the high summer in this country is in its final stages, the bathing season in Cyprus is far from over. Until November you can swim in the sea there. FTI currently offers over 70 beach hotels in the regions of Larnaca, Limassol and Paphos. The Mediterranean island can currently be reached non-stop from six German cities. "Cyprus has so far been spared by Covid-19 and it is still very safe," says FTI expert Halina Strzyzweska. "To enter the country, you have to fill out an online form for the Cyprus Flight Pass 48 hours before the start of the journey. Masks are only required on site in closed rooms, outside you should only pay attention to the distance rules - just like at home. In case of emergency, holidaymakers are fully covered: The Republic of Cyprus will pay for any necessary treatment or quarantine." FTI Product Management Cyprus (18.8.2020)

+++ 1:30 p.m. - Family paradise Turkish Riviera +++

In September the Mediterranean Sea off the Turkish south coast still has over 25 degrees - ideal conditions for a beach holiday. The aquaparks of many resorts promise action for the little ones. "On the Riviera coast, families will find more hotels with their own water and slide park than in almost any other holiday region, for example in the Hotel Aquaworld Belek by MP Hotels in Belek or in the newly opened and exclusively bookable Hotel Victory Be Mine in Side," says Hicabi Ayhan, Group Head of Destination Turkey at FTI. The animation and leisure program has also been adapted to provide fun and variety with sufficient distance. And those looking for a real thrill can let their adrenaline levels soar at the theme park "The Land of Legends" in Belek on a ride on the "Hyper Coaster" roller coaster that opened last year: It reaches a top speed of 115 kilometers per hour. In addition, spectacular shows as well as a range of attractions and other rides thrill young and old alike. "In the park, too, great importance is attached to adhering to the rules of hygiene and - as in German amusement parks - masks are mandatory in public areas," explains Ayhan. +++ 2:00 p.m. - Calabria in Southern Italy as good as Covid-free +++

Calabria, the boot-tip of Italy, delights holidaymakers with its crystal-clear sea, a fantastic coast with fine sandy beaches and charming little towns. In addition, the region has always been one of Italy's least affected by Covid-19 and is still one of the lucky last in the ranking of Corona cases, according to the Italian health authority. Many airlines, including the holiday airlines Condor and Eurowings, have therefore resumed flights to Lamezia Terme, Calabria's main airport, and are gradually serving the region again with connections mainly at weekends from Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hanover, Munich and Stuttgart. FTI will be supplementing this service with a new connection from Leipzig/Halle with Holiday Europe from 5 September 2020. This means that the Berlin-Brandenburg catchment area will be connected to southern Italy non-stop on Saturdays until the end of the summer season. Around 70 hotels in the FTI portfolio are available locally. FTI Touristik (16.8.2020)

+++ 11:30 a.m. - Explore the mountain world with Nube: Goat trekking on Fuerteventura +++

Everyone who loves animals and nature and wants to experience Fuerteventura from a completely new side, should go on a guided goat trekking tour with FTI. Tame, very affectionate goats such as Nube, Rayo and Torito accompany guests on this tour through the mountain landscape near El Cardón. Over a distance of five to six kilometres, they hike together through the barren and yet outstandingly scenic interior of the Canary Islands. The pure hiking time is around three hours and the degree of difficulty is easy to medium and therefore ideally suited for children from nine years of age. A picnic typical of the island with regional specialities, fresh bread and a glass of wine for the adults offers relaxation from the easy effort. An impression of the guided hike is presented in the FTI blog. FTI Product Management Canary Islands (15.8.2020)

+++ 1:45 p.m. - "Car holidays are booming here, but prices remain stable"

FTI self-journey expert Martin Katz gives a short update on the situation and explains: "As demanding as the circumstances and all the consequences are, car holidays are booming for us. And bookings are becoming more sophisticated: The stays are much longer than usual this year. Germany and Austria, the stars of self-drive holidays, are literally developing from short trip destinations to main holiday destinations with stays of one or two weeks or even longer. What is particularly good for our guests is that the prices have remained stable despite the investments that many hoteliers had to make in the course of the Corona measures". +++ 12:40 p.m. - FTI GROUP assumes costs in case of quarantine in Turkey +++

In order to guarantee a carefree holiday for their guests, the FTI GROUP, in cooperation with the hotel partners, assumes the costs for the quarantine stay in Turkey, if a holidaymaker cannot make his planned return flight due to a positive test result. "As a rule, guests are accommodated and catered for in the booked hotel in specially equipped quarantine rooms, which all accommodations with more than 50 rooms must have," explains Hicabi Ayhan, Group Head of Destination Turkey at FTI. A parent or grandparent may of course stay with their child - also free of charge. In addition, the flight of the guest in question will be rebooked at no extra cost. "Together with our hotel partners, we would like to relieve our guests of any concerns that they might be confronted with unexpected costs, because we see it as our common duty of care to be at their side in such a case. The hoteliers have taken extensive measures to ensure the safety of the holidaymakers and to welcome them with the hospitality and professional service for a relaxing break, which is well known in Turkey," Ayhan emphasizes. Facilities for conducting PCR tests are currently being set up in many hotels, including FTI's own MP Hotels, so that guests can be tested directly at the facility and do not need to make use of additional transfers. He adds: "Until September, you will have optimal bathing conditions. In certain places, there will then also be ideal conditions for sailing, kite surfing or windsurfing". In an interview with sonnenklar.TV, the Deputy Minister of Tourism of Cyprus, Mr. Savvas Perdios, explains the new hygiene concept and how holidays will look like in 2020. For example, "A-category" citizens - including holidaymakers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland - are allowed to enter without a corona test. In addition, the local employees pay very close attention to compliance with hygiene regulations and distance regulations. For example, a comprehensive cleaning concept has been introduced, whereby e.g. car keys of rental cars, menus and hotel keys are thoroughly disinfected and cleaned. Mr. Savvas Perdios is very optimistic that the combination of the entry categories and the new measures will be successful and that holidaymakers on Cyprus will be able to enjoy their stay to the full. +++ 5:30 p.m. - Travel industry expects high occupancy rate in Germany +++

With the recent easing of restrictions in this country, demand for holidays in Germany is also increasing significantly. Bottlenecks cannot therefore be ruled out in popular regions during the holiday season. Holiday flats and hotels on the German coasts and in the Alpine foothills have also been largely fully booked in the summer holidays in recent years, and reduced capacities - in order to accommodate fewer guests in the hotel and more space for the spacing rules - are now further exacerbating the situation. "However, we expect that in 2020 many accommodations will benefit from this, which are located in regions that have been less in demand up to now. We are deliberately supporting this by currently training travel agencies, for example, on the many attractions and sights in these areas so that they can advise customers accordingly," explains Martin Katz, who is responsible for the Car Destinations and City Holidays division at the FTI GROUP. "In addition, we have been expecting a high wave of demand not only since the announcement of the relaxation measures and have prepared ourselves in the best possible way over the past few weeks for the momentum that is now beginning. It was advantageous that we had already significantly expanded our portfolio for holidays in Germany before Corona, had increased our teams accordingly and thus had very close, personal contact with all our hotel partners. We can therefore offer our customers a wide range of choices in all regions in all hotel categories and for every type of holiday. FTI Product Management Self Drive & City Breaks (7.5.2020)

+++ 10:00 a.m. - Increased demand for summer holidays in campers +++

In times of Corona, more and more customers are thinking about a holiday in their own country and how they can still spend it relaxed with "social distancing". The FTI GROUP is currently noticing an increased demand for motorhomes from its German guests. "The rolling apartment offers several advantages at once", explains Oliver Albrecht, who is division manager at FTI Wheels: "Above all, couples or families who want to explore nature while maintaining the necessary distance to other holidaymakers are flexible in the camper and can individually arrange their day, and are also not dependent on restaurants for meals". In Germany, FTI cooperates with renowned providers such as McRent and rent easy, which each have up to 15 different vehicle models in their portfolio and have a nationwide network of stations. For example, a family camper can be booked for as little as 85 euros per day when rented from 30 September 2020.  "Also popular are the vehicles of the Weinsberg company, which our partner Apollo offers. Currently, these can only be rented from Hamburg, but there are five different categories available", says Albrecht.
